Who would think that the life of a probation officer supervisor could be so exciting? Killer Storm features the adventures of Jo Spence, a forty-year-old, coffee-addicted, dog-loving lesbian whose desk job suddenly places her in the middle of a murder investigation and the escalating violence of a new gang in Duluth, Minnesota. Set near the shores of Lake Superior close to the wilderness of the north woods, this story combines a description of the idyllic life led by the women of the Valley with an action-oriented plot involving murder, raids and drug busts, a hostage situation, and the invasion of Jo's home. During this turbulent time in Jo's life, her friends set her up with Zoey, a new faculty member at the local university. Their first date turns into a three-day stay at Zoey's house during a record-setting snowstorm.
