This insightful Handbook restores diversity to its national contexts in relation to equal employment legislation. The diverse group of contributors examine whether an equal employment legislation and diversity management label exists in all the different participating countries, and whether this diversity management represents a break from equal employment legislation. The authors suggest that such separation and sequencing between equality at work and diversity management is far from natural. This Handbook also uniquely explores non-Anglophone countries and is specifically dedicated to studying the relationship between diversity management and equality legislations within the different participating countries. Scholars who wish to better contextualize their research will greatly appreciate this important original reference work to enhance their awareness of potential pitfalls in addressing diversity. Students will also find this Handbook a useful complement to mainstream diversity programmes that tend to focus on diversity as a universal concept or diversity in their own country rather than in other countries. It will also provide policy-makers with benchmark data as regards to equal treatment and diversity as understood in other countries.
