Integrated System Modelling Using the Form-Oriented Analysis

Constantly raising system complexity demands for well-suited development methods inorder to enhance specification, integration andmaintainability of large Enterprise Information Systems. Techniques like Model-Driven Development (MDD) and ServiceOriented Architectures (SOA) currently have a great impact on the software industry, sincethey promise immense cost savings through efficient modelling and design guidelines.In this book, a concrete industrial instantiation of MDD is extended by means of a Presentation Layer architecture underconsiderations of the Form-Oriented Analysis - an approach focusing on specification ofa simple system usage paradigm. Both, the resulting user interface, as well as the modelling techniques are fully characterised by this interaction methodology and integratedinto the MDD-context.Results provide an integrated information system model with primary focus on Ultra-Thin Client architectures and benefits from service-orientation. The powerful abstractionmechanisms of the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) allow for a wide field of application domains, while the form-based approach makes it amenable for GUI-specificationand -prototyping.
