Die optimale Organisation wirtschaftlicher Aktivitäten ist ein zentrales betriebswirtschaftliches Problem. Die vorliegende Studie analysiert diese Aufgabe im Lichte der Transaktionskostentheorie, wobei insbesondere die Abgrenzungs- und Quantifizierungsproblematik dieses Ansatzes im Mittelpunkt stehen. Das Erkenntnisziel der theoretisch analysierten Abgrenzungsproblematik bezieht sich auf die zentralen Begriffe der Transaktionskostentheorie und liefert einen Beitrag zur Explikation der Begriffe «Transaktion - Transaktionskosten - Koordination». In einer empirischen Studie zum Problem der Quantifizierung von Transaktionskosten wird sodann nachgewiesen, daß das in der Literatur zum Transaktionskostenansatz bislang stark vernachlässigte menschliche Verhalten ein wichtiger Kosteneinflußfaktor ist.
