A numerical approach was developed in order to predict the behaviour of a metallic barrier used for protection against rockfalls. The numerical model was based on a time stepping procedure in order to predict the boulder's displacement and velocity during the impact with the barrier. An iterative method was developed in order to improve the results and provide with a more accurate estimation. The barrier was simulated through a simplified model consisted of lumped masses and springs in order to estimate the energy dissipation amongst the components of the barrier.
