Combat Radiology will provide a concise text of recent combat radiology experience from Iraq and Afghanistan for both military and civilian practitioners, focusing on imaging advances in deployed combat hospitals, including use of multi-detector CT and ultrasound technology as well as innovations in PACS and teleradiology systems. The book will address deployment preparation and battlefield challenges for military radiologists and support staff; current radiology facility capabilities and staffing throughout the world; significant radiology advances on the battlefield; and concepts in damage control radiology. The book will also serve as an introduction for civilian radiologists involved in emergency and continued care of soldiers at VA hospitals and via teleradiology support through specific anatomic/pathologic concepts and cases unique to combat situations. This will include an overview of unique terms of deployed military combat hospitals; combat imaging procedures and protocols; and diagnostic imaging in wound ballistics and blast injuries.
