This volume contains a biographical account of Simon De Montford, written by the Benedictine monk William Rishanger. Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester (1208 - 1265), was a French nobleman. He spearheaded the uprising against King Henry III of England during the Second Barons' War of 1263-64. This conflict resulted in him becoming the de facto ruler of England.
