Unity was born in 1913 on a sugar farm in Zululand (South Africa) and later brought up in a large English country house. Unity will prove to be headstrong and well in advance of her time; a person who loves life and will pursue what she wants. She wants to have adventures, to dance and travel the world. At the age or 18 Unity is a jockey in south Africa and her life is changed when she wins a tote double at the races.This enables her to go to London to study dancing.Within 2 years she is dancing with the Russians and some of the best ballet companies of the time.
