Modeling and control of Shape memory alloys is a hot research topic due to the non-linearity expressed as a hysteretic "shape memory effect" behavior. This book, therefore, is the first to provide different model-and behavioral-based approaches to control the SMA via the usage of the heat transfer equation as the behavioral model, to discuss a non-passivity of the material, to consider the effect of volume change in the SMA, and to control by characteristic parameter change.
