Zu Unrecht steht der böhmische Komponist Zdenek Fibich (1850-1900) im Schatten von Smetana und Dvorák, denn auch er hat entscheidend zur Begründung der nationalen Schule beigetragen. Sein bekanntestes Werk dürfte das unter dem Namen "Počme" bekannt gewordene Seitenthema aus seiner Symphonischen Dichtung "Der Abend" geworden sein. Der Geiger Jan Kubelík spielte diese Melodie seit 1908 unter diesem Titel, und so ist das Werk heute bekannt und mit seinem eingängigen Charme zu einem der beliebtesten klassischen Themen geworden.
